How many openings do I have?
Go room by room, add each window and door with a rough size, and you have the list an installer needs to quote the whole house. Print it, or send it straight into your request.
How this works
A whole-house impact window quote is built opening by opening, so the first thing an installer asks is how many and roughly how big. The list groups them by room and by size and totals the windows and the doors.
Bedroom windows usually have to open for egress, large living-room openings are often fixed glass or sliders, and doors are quoted as complete units. The notes column is for anything the installer should know before the measure: bars, a window air-conditioner, a changed size or a cracked pane.
It runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. It is a guide, not a quote or a professional assessment — products, openings and associations differ, so follow the maker's instructions where they disagree, and the installer confirms what the job needs when they measure it.
Questions people ask
- Do I need exact measurements?
- No. Rough sizes and a count are enough for the request; the installer measures every opening exactly at the free quote, and the order is placed from those measurements.
- What counts as an opening?
- Every window, sliding glass door, entry door, French door, sidelight, transom and skylight. A wind mitigation inspection looks at all of them, so the list should too.
- What is a single-hung window?
- The common South Florida window where the bottom sash lifts and the top is fixed. A horizontal slider moves sideways; a casement cranks outward; a jalousie has glass louvres.
- Is my list sent anywhere when I build it?
- No. It stays in your browser. It is only sent if you press 'Send this list with my request' and then submit the form.
